Hello, and thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
About my challenge - I haven't ridden a bike for 45 years but I've challenged myself to ride from Rodley in Leeds to Skipton to raise money for Tia Greyhound & Lurcher Rescue. The final destination is Tia's shop in Skipton.
I originally decided to do this because Tia asked for 100 volunteers to fundraise for them this year. The challenge has become more important to me since our 13 year old greyhound Sailor passed away on 12th April. He was a rescue dog and became part of our family in 2002. He will be missed and this challenge is now dedicated to his memory.
The ride is taking place on Thursday 9th June. Hopefully the weather will be kind!
I will be accompanied by Bob from Tia and anyone else who is free is welcome to get on their bike and join us. Similarly, if you'd like to come out and see us along the route or at the finish, it would be great.
About the charity - Tia is an independant charity and Moorside Farm is the largest rescue/home finding sanctuary in the UK offering love and safety to around 100 greyhounds at any one time. No greyhound is put to sleep once it has reached Tia, unless he/she is ill and suffering. Half of the dogs are brought in by their caring owners/trainers. The other half are strays. They are not anti-racing. Just against the way the industry disregards the greyhounds welfare. They receive no money from the racing industry but rely solely on the general publics generosity to cover their day to day running costs and vet bills. How to support me - Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Thanks very much, Phil
