Story
Hello All,
2 Days since the Marathon and we DID IT. 3hr, 8mins & 8secs. I say we beacuse I would not of completed it without the support from my family, friends and colleagues. Miles 22 & 24 were very tough but knowing people had put their faith in me plus my Nan & Gramps looking down got my arse back in gear and hauled me to the end - without that I probably would of been a crumbled heap on the floor, so THANKYOU ALL. Anyway , the reason I did it and you all supported is outlined below.
I'm raising £3,000 for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation which is a fantastic charity that provides support and advice to patients, families and nurses. My Grampy Harry & Nanny Betty both died from lung cancer so I have experienced a little of the affect it can have on someone and their family. I consider myself very lucky that they both lived full & rewarding lives well into their 80's which has inspired me to take this opportunity to do something positive in their memory and give something back for the care they received.
My other main source of inspiration & support is Michelle, my wife who is a nurse that specialises in Lung Cancer care at the BRI in Bristol. Michelle has benefited from the advice that the Roy Castle LCF provides and know first hand what great work they do.
