We offer rural activities and education to a local urban community

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page to help raise funds for Deen City Farm (DCF). Phil has been a trustee of DCF since 2016 and is a keen advocate of its development as a central place for the local community to enjoy.

Deen City Farm is a not-for-profit community farm and an important part of the Merton community. If you ask someone in the local areas they will have heard of it, and most likely spent some time there either as an adult or a child, or with their families.

It is a working farm and provides local families with free access to learning and educational opportunities and close-up interaction with farm animals, such as cows, sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, ferrets, rabbits to name a few! They are raising fund for various projects including housing two donkeys from a donkey sanctuary, and also developing an overgrown field into extra grazing area for the animals.

DCF houses a café and a play area (Oscars playground) for many families to enjoy. It adjoins the National Trust's Morden Hall Park.

It is a proud employer of local people, and in giving paid employment opportunities to those with disabilities.

It is home to a friendly and professional riding school, which offers affordable riding lessons by British Horse Society qualified instructors and also provides lessons to those with disabilities. DCF is also keen on encouraging community involvement and offers many volunteering opportunities for local youth, adult and corporate volunteers.

It costs £500,000 per year to keep the farm and the riding school running, and it is reliant on generous donations - including Merton Council, grants, corporate sponsors and valued farm visitors. The farm is always grateful to its volunteers. If you are interested in getting involved in volunteering - especially to help with fundraising applications, or spreading the word for corporate sponsorship - then speak to Phil.
