Story
Laura, Paul, Poppy, Meg and Will are running the autumn wolf run in September in memory of Tazmin Pugh. Taz tragically died in a devastating fire on the 28th October 2018. Tazmin had been an elite British Swimmer and had represented GB international ten times in two years over three continents winning medals and trophies in all particularly six medals at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa in 2016 and also became the European Junior 200m Backstroke Champion in the same year breaking British Junior and age group records along the way, and was being tracked to make the Tokyo Olympics until injury and the following associated mental anxiety brought about her retirement from the sport.
There was no way Tazmin could have competed at the level she did without help from such organisations as ‘TeamSuperSchools’ and the ‘The Joanna Brown Trust’ who try to help ‘talented’ young athletes realise their dreams. Katherine and I would now in turn like to help other up and coming ‘talented’ swimmers in Tazmin’s name. The JB Trust have been kind enough to offer to look after ‘The Tazmin Pugh Fund’ (a 100% Charity Reg No. 1126272) which now has a dedicated Bank Account for TPF and will be ‘ring fenced’ for swimmers.
So far £4,295 has been raised of which £500 has already been paid out to a successful applicant at Newcastle Swim Team and the Trustees are presently looking at a few more applications (primarily for equipment and training costs NOT transport or Hotel accommodation).
Help and advice on applications are on the JB Trust website, I should add Katherine and myself have no influence whatsoever on said applications, being purely in the hand of the JB Trustees.
A number of you have enquired having missed the fund collected at Tazmin’s Abbey Service or you may be a member of a club or County Tazmin represented who have not got round to any promised fund raising, someone who knew Taz and didn’t know this fund existed, someone who see there is a void for those not yet on UK Sports Grants but are training to a similar degree and struggling financially to do so.
Any donations would be so greatly appreciated.
THANK YOU xx
