Story
This year’s tournament is being held to help children with Cystic Fibrosis. The tournament aims to raise enough funds this year for the Paediatrics Department at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, to build a CineGym. This is a dual purpose room offering children with Cystic Fibrosis access to a specialist gym designed to provide a suitable environment which encourages them to exercise during the day and a cinema room by night offering a change of scenery and a chance for patients to socialise, which in itself can be an excellent distraction from their treatment or condition. The CineGym will also be used by children rehabilitating from major surgery. If we manage to surpass the funding requirement of the CineGym, we will help to fund activity trolleys, which hold specially-designed, dementia-friendly activities to be used by patients of the Queen Alexandra Hospital who are too frail to move freely around the hospital.
