Story

 ... THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR DONATIONS AND MESSAGES. THE SUPPORT OF THE RDG REGIMENTAL FAMILY OVER THIS PAST YEAR HAS BEEN FANTASTIC. QS

Dear Sponsor

Over the course of 2010, The Royal Dragoon Guards will be deployed in Afghanistan, fighting the Taliban led insurgency in a number of key front-line roles. Operating as part of the UN mandated NATO mission, RDG soldiers will conduct missions and training in support of the Afghan National Security Forces and so will help prevent Afghanistan again becoming a sanctuary for terrorist organizations such as Al Qaeda which threaten UK homeland security.

The Royal Dragoon Guards Welfare Appeal Afghanistan 2010, has been set up to raise funds to support the needs of the Regimental family (both the serving soldiers and their dependants) over the course of this deployment. In particular the funds will also be used to help our soldiers and their families deal with any casualties the Regiment may sustain during the tour.

To raise sponsorship, members of the Regiment will be taking part in the following events:

Running - The Chester Marathon (31May10) COMPLETED the Chester Half Marathon (16May10) COMPLETED - results at: http://www.sportsystems.co.uk/ss/resultsEvent.htm?eventId=352 AND The Great North Run (19Sep10) – 26.2 miles and 13.1 miles respectively);
