Henry's Virtual Charity Concert in aid of the RSPCA
Fundraising for RSPCA (England and Wales)
Story
Hi, I’m Henry! I have decided to raise money for the RSPCA by recording a charity concert for a few reasons.
Although the NHS is undoubtedly deserving of every penny they have received for caring for those severely affected by COVID-19, a lot of attention has been diverted from other charities which are also in need of donations. The RSPCA have been caring for animals since 1824 that haven’t been as lucky, often coming in from the streets or from homes of abuse and neglect. They investigate cruelty complaints, secure convictions and re-home animals. RSPCA branches are entirely self-funding and rely completely on donations in order to continue to help animals on a daily basis.
Over the lockdown, they have had to shut off the shelter to the public, meaning much needed help from volunteers has not been available and less people have been fostering or adopting animals to take some of the burden off their shoulders. Alongside this, due to many people’s change in circumstances, they can no longer take care of their pets and have been abandoning them. Each year, abandonment rates surge every summer and this year, the pandemic has seen the trend grow even worse. On top of all of this, they have seen a huge deficit in income and have had to reduce their expenditure to stay open. This means the RPSCA needs every donation they can get to take care of our animals. Your generosity will help the RSPCA provide warm beds and blankets, food and urgent medical treatment.
