My story...

I spent the Summer of 2013 looking at ways to challenge myself whilst also helping others. I decided to climb Kilimanjaro to mark a personal accomplishment in my life. I wanted to look back and achieve something that I would be proud of and my daughter, friends and family would also be proud of. Whilst setting myself this goal I decided to raise money for charity. I chose the Brain Tumor Charity as my employer 'Hays' has signed up to work with these for 2 years. I wanted to raise awareness and help a worthy cause.

'Every year, over 9,000 people in the UK receive the devastating news that they have been diagnosed with a primary brain tumour. Facing the future with a brain tumour can be a daunting, shocking and emotional experience for the entire family. Normal, everydaylife is turned upside down.

The statistics around brain tumours are truly shocking, but with your support we are working to change this. The Brain Tumour Charity is the UK’s largest dedicated brain tumour charity. We fund scientific and clinical research into brain tumours and offer support and information to those affected, whilst raising awareness and influencing policy'.

Kilimanjaro inspires transformation. What seemed impossible in my life now seems doable. I have been told the top is a place for vision, inspiration and a new beginning.   

I will be writing a blog throughout the next 7 months. I hope this will inspire people to want to do it and prove that anything is achieveable if you put your mind to it.
