This may come as a shock to you, as it has certainly me(!), but yes I am running the London Marathon this year on 25 April in order to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.  I have a big target to raise but hope that with the support of you all I can succeed.  With a little over 26 miles to run and £1,800 to raise, I have a long way to go but with my new orange running shoes and a lot of determination it can be done!

Having recently visited the Hospital, it really opened my eyes to the incredible things they do there but also the need for everyone's support.  GOSH's motto "the child first and always" is certainly true for the Hospital and shone through in every aspect of my visit.  The level of care and attention the staff give is really something special and the atmosphere they provide certainly helps the children recover not only faster but happier. 

Although the hospital is already a truely amazing place, a fifth of their income comes straight from Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and is a vital portion to keep them going.  The Hospital needs continual donations in order to keep updating their life-saving equipment, researching treatments for complex medical conditions, the redevelopment of outdated and cramped wards and support for the family of the patients - this includes beds for parents and siblings and nearby accomodation, as the ill children need their family more than ever whilst they have a reason to be in the Hospital.
