Radio Team Running 10K to raise £10k

Radio station director and complete novice runner, Gary Robinson has roped in 16 people to run 10K to raise £10K for Cash for Kids.

The group of nine men and seven women from all walks of life will take part in the BUPA Great Edinburgh run on Sunday 2nd May 2010 and are calling on your support to help raise funds for Cash for Kids.

Bringing together the group, known as the Radio Tay Team, was the brainchild of Gary Robinson and Stephen Clarke from Stephen Clarke Fitness after meeting at a business breakfast in .

Ex Dundee FC legend Bobby Glennie and former player and assistant manager Ray Farnigham will be running as part of the team.  Well known Dundonians, Jimmy and Karen Marr, directors of Park Leisure in Dundee and hairdresser Charlie Taylor who has salons across the area, are also part of the group who are putting on their running shoes and training hard for the race.

Gary Robinson said:  “We’re delighted to be getting behind Cash for Kids and raising funds that will go towards needy children in the area.  The whole team is a bit apprehensive about the race but I’m sure that with all our efforts and training regimes we’ll be able to complete the run.

“The idea came about as I needed to lose some weight but could never make it to the gym and made all the excuses under the sun not to go.  I met Stephen at a Business Breakfast meeting in and the idea came about from there – I aim to get fit whilst training for the 10k and raising money for Cash For Kids at the same time.

Stephen Clarke continued: “In my line of work I meet a lot of people who are looking to get fit and it is a great way to motivate them by setting a goal of raising funds for Cash for Kids by completing a set race at the same time.

“I’m delighted we’ve got so many people on board and look forward to seeing what times members of the team can achieve and also if we can smash our target of raising £10K.
