It seems these days, that every other week someone is asking for you to
sponsor them to complete some ridiculously easy challange, like walking
the distance your grandad used to walk to school every morning....
So
I've introduced a challenge aspect. As some of you may know I'm running
the Reading half marathon on the 21st March and I figured I might as
well do some good in the world while I'm at it....so here are the
rules...
THE CHARITY
All proceeds will be donated to
Kiddies Support Scheme (KISS). KISS is a small chairty that is mainly
supported by current and former pupiles of my old school and does some
great work in Uganda supporting families and helping to provide
education, healthcare and emergency assistance to the people of the
villages that it works in.

THE CHALLENGE
As mentioned I will be running the Reading half marathon on the 21st March. But most people can walk at least 13 miles right? So I've introduced a catch....
The
catch is, if I DO NOT complete the race within 1 hr 55 minutes then I
will refund ALL sponsor money and pay it myself. (Race result will be
based on CHIP TIME ie time that I cross the start and finish line)
For
last year's Reading half marathon, only roughly 40% of people acheived
a sub 1.55 time and that included Kiplimo Kimutai who romped home in
1.02.46, so I'm up against some pros...
For the record:
- 1 hr 55 is considered pretty quick
- I have never completed a half marathon before
- I had never run more than 10k before I started training for this race.
- There is a good chance you can screw me over.
Hopefully
the added incentive of seeing me weeping on the finish line will give
you all more incentive to up the ante with your donations!
If you want to track my progress to date or running up to the event please check out:

....that's my last run as at 27th Feb 2010. If you look on the top left of the page you should also be able to check out all of my other runs that I've done since I started training (and see all of the hard work I've put in to avoid the unthinkable repayment of a lot of money!!). Oh, and on the run that I've posted ignore the fact that I managed to clock an unbelievable 92 mph on the run in...I'm working on a sprint finish but I'm not that fast....my awesome iphone ap that has allowed me to keep you updated lost it's GPS signal near the end so I had to edit the run to put it on the right course at the expense of the speed over the last 3 miles.
Please sponsor me!! Any amount would be hugely appreciated and will go towards a great cause!!
