Story
On the 27th - 29th March, over 21,000 swimmers will be heading down to over 600 pools across the UK to raise money for two amazing charity partners.
I will be one of those swimmers.
I wanted a challenge for the New Year and having stumbled across this event by accident decided it would be a great challenge to raise money for a really great cause.
I have lost a number of friends to cancer so such charities are always close to my heart.
I wanted to ensure that the challenge was a real challenge for me - not something which I could manage with ease. I therefore opted for the 5K (3.1 mile) swim. That's 200 lengths of a standard 25 metre swimming pool!!
If anyone would like to sponsor me, any donation would be gratefully received.
As of Tuesday 21st January I'm going to be up at 6.00 a.m. and in the swimming pool when it opens at 6.30 a.m. to begin my training!!
Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity is dedicated to saving lives through funding research to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Cancer Research UK are the only charity fighting over 200 cancer types but don't receive any government funding for their work, so their progress is all thanks to the support of people like you.
Marie Curie provides expert care, guidance and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Around 2,100 Marie Curie Nurses work day and night, in people’s homes all over the UK, providing hands-on care to people when they need it most.
Together we can really make a difference. We invite our swimmers to tell their story to help spread awareness and raise vital funds for these two incredible causes.
