Hi Y'all,

Well, I've gone absolutely mad and have registered to run the Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon in San Antonio, Texas. I'll be running the race on Sunday 14th November.

I started my training in August, with the help of a good friend,  (thanks Kev) and all is going well. I still need to get out running in the Texas heat, but there's still time for that. Having never run a race like this before it's a bit scary, but I wanted to challenge myself and get fit at the same time!!

For my charity I have chosen one which is close to my heart and it is called Compassion. It is an International Christian organisation which helps poverty stricken children, develop into fulfilled and responsible adults. The work of Compassion enables them to have an education, healthcare, health education and spiritual education/guidance.

Any money that you donate will go to the work of Compassion. However, to make an even greater difference to a child's life, I would encourage you to consider sponsoring a child where you would also gain a fantastic relationship with a child through letters, photograph and drawings

Me and my family have personal experience of sponsoring 2 children, through this charity. Eliseo, who is in the picture, is 14, and we have been sponsoring him since he was 4! He lives in Boliva with his huge family and a very small house! We had the opportunity of visiting him last year and I can tell you it was a very emotional experience. He did not know we were going and the look on his face when he saw us, I will NEVER forget.  We spent the day with him and his family and we have very precious memories of that day. He had all our letters, photographs, gifts in a file and showed them to us. My two young sons to, got to share in this experience. Fabiano is our other little boy who is about to turn 5. He lives in Peru. To exchange letters with them is amazing and a tremendous gift to share with them.
