Story
My beloved dad, Dave Hannan, went to sleep for the last time on 30/11/2021, after a mercifully short illness with cancer, which caused him to get sepsis.
His funeral will be 22/12/21 at 10am, at the Rowan Chapel, Stockport Crematorium. As an alternative to bringing cut flowers, we are asking people to consider making a small donation to the Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, of which Dave was an Honorary Life Member.
Dave spent most of his life volunteering, and was known for helping run CAMRA beer festivals, taking part in and leading Mountain Bothy Association working parties, and working the locks and towpaths of local canals and waterways — but he spent the most time serving Mountain Rescue, giving up his weekends to search the hills for lost and injured folk in need of help and medical support, saving countless lives over the decades. He was also part of the Lockerbie cleanup mission in 1988, again on a voluntary basis. He was just a few weeks shy of gaining his 45 years' service award when he sadly passed away.
Anything you can spare will enable BMRT to continue saving lives around the Peak District, his favourite stomping ground, and it would mean so much to us for him to leave this legacy.
If you do wish to bring flowers, please consider choosing a living plant rather than cut flowers, which can continue to grow and remind his family of him for years to come.
