Hello friends,
Thanks for taking the time to visit
my JustGiving page.
I'm going to India to complete a 480 km bike
challenge to raise money for Mencap.
My motivation behind this was to get
fit, go to a country I've never been to before and to raise money for a charity
that I feel really passionately about.
I've been training all year and
can now run for the bus without getting out of breath - in fact, I overtook it
the other day, much to the amusement of the passengers inside! Christmas has
ruined it a little bit but I'm back on track ready to give it the final push
before I leave in February.
Mencap is a really great charity who do
advocacy and campaign work for the 1.5 million people with a learning disability
in the UK. I come into contact with Mencap regularly in my work for the NHS
supporting people with a learning disability to lead a normal life and to access
services like housing, education, employment and leisure. Most people with a
learning disability are treated as 'different'. They do not have the same
control over their own lives as the rest of our society. Mencap fights for
changes that people with a learning disability want. They work in partnership
with people with a learning disability to support people to live life as they
chose.
I have funded the trip myself so any money you donate goes straight to Mencap.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send
unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the
charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK
taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving
time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate
now.
Thank you
