This
page was set up to raise money for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity; specifically for the Teenage Cancer Trust Unit.
The
care and support they gave to Dan during his brave fight against cancer
was extraordinary with every member of staff making a difference to him
during his treatment there. It is because of them all that we want to
raise as much money as possible in the hope that others may benefit from
this incredible facility.
Dan lived and worked in Sheffield for the 18 months prior to his illness. In that time he found a job that he loved, made a great crowd of friends and spent every spare minute with his girlfriend Kelsey. He was living life to the full and loving it.
Shortly after Dan's death we were approached by a great friend and fellow keen cyclist; Adam Denton. Adam wanted to get involved with fund-raising for such a good cause and his hard work and enthusiasm saw The Rother Valley Challenge come about. The link between Sheffield (Dan's new found home) and Surrey (his childhood home) soon became apparent with Rother Valley being the common connection.
The idea was borne and a Surrey to Sheffield return ride over the course of one weekend was devised. As part of a number of teams, we plan to cycle a round trip of 720km in two days over the weekend of July 12th-13th.
Dan worked at Nonna's - Sheffield's best Italian Restaurant on the Ecclesall Road. He loved his job and it was apparent that they loved him being there too! As a tribute to Dan, the cycling teams will meet at Nonnas at the end of the first day for a much needed plate of pasta and a rest before setting out again first thing the following morning.
If anyone would like to join us please feel free to turn up anytime after 8pm on the Saturday evening. We promise we will have showered by then!

Sadly
Dan passed away on Thursday 7th November 2013 - almost a year to the
day after his original diagnosis. We hope that the money raised from this challenge can go towards giving teenagers who are diagnosed with cancer, the same level of care and support that Dan received.
Danny
will be missed so much by all those who loved him and the many who's
lives he touched. Our thanks and gratitude go to everyone at Weston
Park. We will be forever grateful.
