Story

WOW... I've done it!!! I never thought I'd manage to get to £500... it was an ambitious target but I'm glad I aimed high as it's paid off.

I'd like to thank everyone who has sponsored me and supported me this month... it's really appreciated. I've enjoyed it and feel a lot fitter than I was before. I've also lost a few pound and a few gallon of sweat! I've been really lucky with the weather, only having one journey home where it rained. On one occasion I nearly went under the wheels of a lorry but other than that it's been really enjoyable. There were times where I thought "I want my car!" but I resisted the urge.

First of all thanks for visiting my page.

I’m attempting to ride to work and back on every working day in May. That’s 21 working days and at approximately 7.9 miles each way, I’ll have racked up 331 miles by the end of it. You might be thinking that it’s a pretty modest target but considering I’ve barely ridden a bike since I was about 15, it should prove quite a challenge. I wanted to do this for the Weston Park Hospital because it’s a charity that means a lot to my family. It also gives me a massive incentive to complete the challenge as rain or shine, fit or sick, I’ll know it’s worth while putting the effort in.

You can keep track of my progress by on twitter (@richard_hoyland or http://twitter.com/richard_hoyland) where I will be posting my times each day (should my phone do as it’s supposed to) using GPS technology so there’s no hiding! I’ll also update my facebook status.

So, I’d be very grateful if you could sponsor me. Even if it’s just a pound, it all adds up and will be appreciated just as much as a tenner.

Thanks very much.

Richard

P.S. Someone has mentioned that Monday 3rd and Monday 31st May are bank holidays. To keep the mileage total the same, I'll also ride on these days.
