Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
First an update. Within just a few months of launching my appeal my target was reached and exceeded by nearly 300%. The generosity of friends and businesses has been incredible.
Please everybody, keep it going, keep giving! Let's see how high we can get it!
Thanks to all who have supported this so far.
St. Cuthbert's Hospice in Durham decided that I should stretch my legs and go for a walk up Kilimanjaro raising some money as I go. Google Kilimanjaro and you can read what these climbs entail. Not a stroll in the park for an OAP but the cause is so worth it.
We set off in October 2012 (it was to have been May 2012 but the date had to be put back). Before starting the trek 2 days are spent helping at a school, orphanage or community project at the base of Kilimanjaro.
St. Cuthbert's specialises in providing palliative care for those with life limiting illnesses. It provides a most exceptional, caring service both residential and day. Those who have experienced it, those who have visited it, cannot speak too highly. Its not just end of life care, its giving people a quality of life, comfort when they need it, relief for families.
Giving such a high standard of care costs. St. Cuthbert's annual running costs are around £2 million. The instinct of us humans to care, support and give knows no limits, its wonderful. Let's keep it going.
Hence I go for this several day "stroll" up a 19,241 foot hill. Please, let me knacker myself and you give!
This page shows a target of £4,000. The actual amount I have to raise before I can set off is £3,900. About half goes to the Hospice and the other half covers the costs involved. There are some bits I pay for. However, every penny over the £3,900 goes to St. Cuthbert's so whilst my initial target is £4k I really, really would like to raise an awful lot more and have this page showing the target has long been passed. Indeed get that extra £1,000 mentioned above.
If you want me to send a sponsorship form as you have friends and colleagues you think may want to support, email me at rhlangdon@email.com and I can send one. Or just donate here on this page.
"Give generously" we often hear but please do. If you are a business you can get tax relief on what you donate as a business expense so it costs you less! If you want a formal receipt I can arrange it if you email me – rhlangdon@email.com .
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they will they never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they will send your money directly to St. Cuthbert's and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it's the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting admin costs for St. Cuthbert's.
Remember, much good can come from very little, but the more you can manage to give so much more is the care and the support the Hospice can give and the considerable relief not just to its guests but their families and friends as well.
Please dig deep, donate now and thanks for stopping by on this page.
