Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We're cycling to Brighton from London off the beaten track - along the way we'll be using paths and fields to get down to the Jewel of the South rather than tarmac roads just to make it more of a challenge. My dad, brother and cousin make up our merry band and we are raising money for the Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team, a very worthy charity who selflessly give their time in order to help those in trouble in the Glencoe area. The team is made up of unpaid volunteers who operate 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, in what are at times extremely harsh and unforgiving conditions. It is a charity that is particuarly close to my cousin Bobby's heart; a close friend of his tragically died whilst walking in the mountains, and the Glencoe team risked their lives to find him and bring his body back. He and a group of friends wanted to do something to support the charity, and ultimately they want to build Glencoe Mountain Rescue a fully equipped Land Rover, in order to be able to better assist those in need in the mountains. We thought it would be appropriate to try and help this very worthy cause by joining their fundraising team, so please give generously. Thank you.

About the charity

Glencoe Mountain Rescue has been providing a free rescue service in the Glencoe area since 1961. Run entirely by volunteers and hugely reliant on donations for funding, the rescue service extends to mountains, rivers, lochs, caves and the sea across North Argyll and on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula.
