WE DID IT!!

Thank you so very much to every kind soul who donated to us, made the very steep climbs up and down a little easier.

Rick x

My name is Ricky Chandler and in April 2011 I will be undertaking the Inca Trail in Peru.  One happy night in Bristol whilst enjoying a few pints of cider, my good friend Graf Hayward suggested I join him on hiking up to Machu Picchu, had it not been for the cloudy cider I probably would have said no!

I am now enduring weekends full of long walks whilst looking forward to this adventure, especially as my son Joe is also now joining myself and Graf.

Whilst dining with a work colleague, Simon Millet, he suggested that I should raise some money for this challenge, what better way to keep me motivated than dedicate the trip to the memory of my dear brother, Tim Chandler,  whilst raising money for the very worthwhile cause, Gullain-Barre Syndrome support group.

Since 1985, the GBS Support Group has supported those affected by the neuropathies Guillain-Barré syndrome and CIDP, and their clinical variants. The Charity provides information and support to sufferers and their families and aims to raise awareness of the illnesses amongst both medical professionals and the general public. It raises funds for cutting-edge research into the illnesses.

Sadly my brother fell ill with GBS and never fully recovered and we lost him in November 1998.  Our family will never be the same without him, and I have no doubt that had Tim still been with us he would have joined me on this adventure.  So it is a real honour to undertake this challenge and raise awareness and money for sufferers and their families affected by this cruel illness.
