Story
Last year we went through the terrible experience of almost losing our 4yr old son Fionn to Meningitis. As a result of this we have learnt how much work is going into finding a vaccine for this deadly disease. And so we are taking part in the annual "Bordering on a vaccine Walk 4 Meningitis" to help raise funds for this cause.
We will be walking 22miles from Strangford to Newcastle Co Down on 5th June. Three generations of my family are taking part, including my niece (thats her in the photos at last years walk)who inspired us to do the walk this year after she completed it last year, the total walk last year raised £35,000 A huge success.
Meningitis Uk rely totally on charitable donations, their aim is to find a vaccine to eradicate meningitis, just last year their research succeeded in developing a new vaccine (Prevenar 13) which now protects against 13 strains of the disease, compared to the previous vaccine which covered 7, this will potentially save thousands of lives, So your donation really does count and will make a difference. A lot more work is needed to develop a full vaccine and of course this takes money, and so i would like to say Many Many Thanks for taking the time to sponsor us.
As you can see from the photos, Fionn has made a fantastic recovery, we are among the lucky ones. Thanks Again, Rita
