Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Just over a year ago I received some devastating news after undergoing routine blood tests which showed that I had raised PSA levels. I was told, after further investigation, that I had very early stage prostate cancer. I had no other obvious symptoms that can affect men of my age. Many different options were given to me by the medical profession in order to manage my condition, but both Bev and I decided that there really wasn't a choice, I had to have a radical prostectamy. To our amazement the NHS were offering to operate within four weeks of diagnosis. We cannot praise enough the way the NHS handled my case and I have made a full recovery. We believe that by taking the initiative and having the blood tests has saved me from a potentially life threatening condition.
We now want to do something to help further research into this silent disease and my son Nick and I are taking part in the Snowdon500 Challenge on 22 May and aim to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Research Centre.
