Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In Jan 2011, I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Lupus UK. For those of you that know me, I'm more used to climbing on and off of my sun lounger or bar stool than climbing a mountain!!!
So why am I climbing 5,895 metres or 19,341 ft ??? Well if Chris Moyles can do it so can I!! Several years ago my mother was diagnosed with Lupus. She has continued to lead a full and active life, but at times has to cope with joint/muscle aches and pains, extreme fatigue and weakness; also inflammation of the tissues covering internal organs with associated chest and/or abdominal pain, along with several other symptons. Mum often tells people who do not know what Lupus is, "because you can look so well, nobody understands how awful you are feeling."
My aim is to raise as much money as possible to fund the amazing research that is going on to help find a cure.
Lupus made the news at the end of last year when Lucy Vodden died at the age of 46 years from an infection that was a complication of lupus. It was revealed she was the 'Lucy' in John Lennon's classic song Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.
