Story
Thanks for visiting my Big Walk 2017 Just Giving page.
More information about The Big Walk 2017 can be found at www.shef.ac.uk/big-walk
I am taking part in The Big Walk 2017, a walking challenge on 30 June 2017. I introduced the idea to the University of Sheffield of a 50-mile circular walk starting and ending on campus into the Peak District so feel I should do it. The team have up to 24 hours to complete as much of the route as we can. My personal goal is to walk at least 26 miles – and hopefully do the full 50 miles .....
Why are we doing this?
We are raising funds towards the University’s £2 million fundraising campaign for the Sheffield Scanner - a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility, and the first of its kind in Yorkshire. The Sheffield Scanner will represent the next leap forward in medical and imaging research and have a crucial role for research and patients in many areas of medicine, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases such as Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes and stroke, in which the University's research is world-leading.
Further information about the Sheffield Scanner can be found at www.sheffield.ac.uk/sheffieldscanner
The furthest I've walked is 22 miles and that was 25 years ago, so my first goal is to walk 26 miles, but I am keen to complete the whole 50 miles so this will be a personal achievement of mine and it is also for a great cause so please make a donation to this cause which will have a terrific impact for everyone in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE BIG WALK 2017 AND
THE SHEFFIELD SCANNER CAMPAIGN!
