Story

Hello everyone,

Thanks for taking the time to visit the “John O’Groats to Lands End Team Cycle - In Lockdown” page.

Rob Warburton, Ben Hawkins, Luke Lloyd-Davies, James Hamblin and Marcus Iafrate are aiming to cycle a combined total of 1,407km in 9 days (32kms per person every day) whilst also observing the lockdown restrictions of 1 hour of exercise.

Equally and perhaps more impressive is the task the Cranleigh's very own Captain Tom has taken on (he was in the army and is called Tom):  he will be pushing his son George, in his wheelchair, around the golf course at Cranleigh school 50 times before lockdown ends.  Each lap is 1km and it's uphill and down dale.  1.2 marathons if you will.  So let's get behind the team and Cranleigh's very own Captain TOM.

Why are we doing this?  Well many charities are struggling at the moment with lockdown restrictions significantly reducing fundraising activities.  Challengers is a charity that is close to our hearts and it provides amazing support to a family that is very dear to all our hearts.

Challengers provides respite care for families with severley disabled children.  It allows parents to spend some time with other children and have free time to do with as  they wish.  While parents have some well earned time off, Challengers provides fantastic care and play that the children might not otherwise get.  When lockdown is over Challengers will provide much needed respite care for many families, to help them get back to "normal"

We understand times are tough for many people but please give what you can as any amount will make a real difference.

Many thanks.

About the charity

All children need to play, but for disabled children it is essential to help them reach their full potential. Challengers provides numerous play schemes for disabled children from across the South East. However, there are hundreds of children missing out every day and your gift can help them play.
