Story

We are grateful to the Lichfield Diocesan Board of Finance (LDBF) for processing all donations on behalf of St Augustine's. All funds donated including any additional Gift Aid amounts will be passed to St Augustine's Church by LDBF.

St Augustine's Church, Rugeley is a familiar feature of our local landscape. It is a defining part of the town we love. Many friends and families have an abiding link with the building.

One such much loved friend was Roger Francis (1932-2020), former Parish Treasurer, choir member and noted enthusiast for our area and its industrial heritage, who wrote extensively about the town and area and its history. Roger’s late wife Jill, was also widely known within church circles and is remembered with great affection.

It is fitting therefore that we launch this appeal to ensure that St Augustine’s is protected against the ravages of time in sound condition as a welcoming and accessible centre where people come to find solace, comfort, peace and hope in difficult times, and a place to come together to give thanks and celebrate life’s joys and gifts.

The Roger Francis Memorial Appeal is being launched to help meet the costs of repairs to the masonry of St Augustine’s and improvements to the accessibility to the building. We aim to raise £8,000. We hope to begin the repair works to the masonry in the spring of this year and to undertake the improvements to access through the main west door as quickly as possible this year.
