Hidradenitis Suppurativa is a horrendous skin condition that affects both men and women, it takes the form of deep painful abscesses that build up and interconnect within the tissues forming what is known as ‘sinus tracts’ these then become inflamed and infected leading to more abscesses.  It most commonly erupts in the groins, axillae buttocks, peri anal, thigh, pubic area, breasts and abdominal folds.  In severe cases the abscesses can erupt on any hair bearing part of the body.

HS can dramatically change the life of the person it affects and their loved ones and families. The things you once took for granted become difficult even walking and moving can cause severe pain.  Your life becomes centred around your illness, what you wear, where you go and when you go.

HS can be aggravated by stress, heat, sweating or friction and around 50% of women report a flare up of the condition just before or during menstruation.  I’ve watched my wife being eaten away by this condition which has gradually become worse, she has had many major operations and has suffered several bouts of septicaemia but refuses to let the condition beat her, as the condition can be hereditary we would love to find a cure so that our children may not have to go through the suffering their mother has.  There is very little known about this condition and we need to raise awareness now!  I hope you will support this worthy cause and dig deep, many thanks.
