Story

UPDATE: 17 March 2010 - 4 days to go

Trent is bogged down with a manflu while Warren heroicly fights on at about 80%. A high performance doctor has been consulted and double the dose has been prescribed. All medicine are to be flushed from the system pre-race as they can be performance reducing. Here is hoping the lads eat enough oranges between now and then to see them fighting fit.

Peter is off to the Canadian Chiro for one last visit tomorrow and hopes he can do enough to get the right leg through the full mission.

Trent is releasing a daily text message which is providing entertainment for the entire group!

The Rome weather looks like 15-17 max with a 12 minimum so it should be peachy in comparison to Londres. Chance of a shower but we are used to that after the long cold winter which was naturally wet at times....

UPDATE: 15 March 2010 - 6 days to go

A quiet weekend for all as the race approaches quickly.

Peter and Warren got out for a short trot on Sunday to stretch the legs. Warren has been fighting a cold but has just about won the battle after almost 3 weeks with the Runners Lurgee.

Trent has caught it so it looks like they may have been a little too close at the Beach Hotel at the Half Marathon in Brighton. Trent is now trumpeting rest rest rest and a visit to the doctor.

Thanks again to those of you who have donated recently we had no idea people would be so generous! Thankyou very much the good people at Crisis are going to be pumped!

UPDATE: 11 March 2010 - 10 days to go

Trent has stopped talking about being 'in a holding pattern' and Warren has sourced some 'tips' from his housemate Ben who took on Rome and survived in '09. Tips did include using Vaseline and being really organised.

Thanks to all who have donated in the last couple of days, I guess it is too late to pull out now......

Oh and Trent's new race pants have arrived so he is all ready to go!

UPDATE: 9 March 2010 - A bakers dozen

That's right 13 days to go!! Crikey...

Thanks to all those who have donated me and the lads are surprised anyone even read our email.

Some of you have asked if I am running with Dave Grohl I cannot confirm or deny this rumour but the picture does have an uncanny resemblence. "I, i'm a one way motorway....."

Like the Romans do...

Y'all,

We are tackling the Italian Marathon in Rome on 21 March 2010 with a combination of botched preparation, foolhardiness, snow running and vaseline.

Whilst we are not obliged to we have chosen to try and raise some funds for charity and we have chosen a local charity East London called Crisis.

Crisis is the national charity for single homeless people. Crisis is dedicated to ending homelessness by delivering life-changing services and campaigning for change.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Many thanks,

Peter, Trent and Warren

'Homeless' by Tony Channing

A December eve chilly and dark
She sits alone in a mall
Her dog asleep too weak to bark
Strumming her guitar to all

Shoppers laden with gifts walk past
She has no money to live
She’s treated as a lower caste
No one wants to give

A tear flows down her grubby cheek
A sigh, a shudder, a whimper
She holds her hand out feeble and weak
Smiles at each passer by’s simper

Church bells ring, a distant peal
Singers sing in refrain
Slowly she begins to kneel
And prays in the freezing rain
