Event: Virgin London Marathon 2010
We fund dementia research to help defeat dementia.

Story

I am embarking on my second marathon adventure and running the Virgin London Marathon on in support of BRACE.

Established in 1987, BRACE (Bristol Research into Alzheimer's and Care of the Elderly) finances research into conditions of the elderly, particularly Alzheimer's Disease.   As one of the few charities that exists specifically to finance dementia research, BRACE has supported diverse research projects into all aspects of dementia, aiming also to raise awareness of the disease and its effects.

Alzheimer’s is a disease unfortunately close to many of us  and with only £11 currently spent per Alzheimer’s sufferer per year, the work BRACE does is vital if future generations are to be free from the fear of this devastating illness.

Having completed the Edinburgh marathon last May in 4hrs 40minutes minus nine of my ten toenails, I am investing in a new pair of trainers, embarking on a new rigorous training regime, and aiming for a time closer to 4hrs 15minutes this time round.  My sponsorship target is £1500, but obviously I’m trying to raise as much as possible. Any contribution would be ELY appreciated.
