26 Marathons in 26 days!!  PLEASE SPONSOR ME! - every penny counts

Starting on 5th April, 2010,  I shall run 26  marathons in 26 days, pulling my famous cart Icebird!  The marathons will all be in Wales and England. It is just a little challenge,  but is very important to me. The marathons are my personal thank you to all the people in my country who have always been there for me through thick and thin, and will be in aid of two very special hospices.

There are many causes that are forever part of my life.   I felt the need to  do something for the children of Britain during these marathons, and intend to raise funds and awareness for Ty Hafan, the family hospice in Cardiff, and Helen & Douglas House in Oxford.

They remarkable, and I am so proud to run for them.

Ty Hafan is a lifeline in Wales. It is a hospice beloved by all who know of it. It provides comfort, care and support to life-limited children, young people and their families, helping them to make the most of the time they have together. All the children and young people are expected to die before their nineteenth birthday.  I was utterly moved and inspired during my recent visit to see the dedication of the staff and the courage of the families, and to find that it is a place somehow so full of fun and laughter too.

Helen House was the world's first children's  hospice opening in 1982, and Douglas House the first for young adults. They provide respite and of end of life care, as well as support and friendship for the whole family, and help around 300 families a year.  Only through donations and sponsorship can the hospices continue their vital work..-It costs 4.5million a year to keep up their work. The vast majority comes from voluntary funding.  So many people do all they can; Schoolchildren  even bake cakes and sell them  to raise money for Helen & Douglas Hospices- and make a difference!... corporate donations are much needed too  - and runners  can run marathons!

I am training hard.  I have to run two marathon distances back to back  next weekend and and working out a schedule so as to be at the best I can do by April - FOR THE START!!!    More news next week as the itinerary of the marathons is prepared.  The FIRST MARATHON ON 5 APRIL WILL BE IN PEMBROKESHIRE!!!!  MORE NEWS WILL FOLLOW.  MEANWHILE PLEASE SPONSOR ME!!!

Many thanks for reading my page

Best wishes, Rosie
