Story

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page to raise money for Guide Dogs For The Blind - The amazing charity which I will be running the Virgin London Marathon for on April 25th 2010!

I know that it seems like everyone is asking for your money at the moment and with the old, 'credit crunch' still lingering about it isn't always possible to donate, but seriously, any donation - no matter how small would be so much appreciated and would really help me reach my target of £1500 by next April! (Hey, who knows, we might just smash it!)

Let me ask you a question.

What would you lose from your life if you lost your sight?

It's a question that not a lot of people like to think about but the truth is that everyday 100 people across the UK find out the answer to this question the hard way.
Losing sight has a devastating impact on people's lives, and it is often assumed that if you start to lose your sight a range of services swing into action - this is not true.
There are currently thousands of people left to cope alone when they are most vulnerable.

Blindness is something that has touched my family for as long as I can remember and numerous members of my family struggle everyday with their sight, so 'Guide Dogs For The Blind' is a charity very close to my heart.
The amazing work this charity does provides mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people, enabling them to leave their houses, stay in employment, socialise and ultimately lead the life they deserve to lead - things we all take so very much for granted everyday!

'Guide Dogs For The Blind'
also campaign for the rights of people with visual impairment, educate the public about eye care and fund eye disease research.

I feel very priveliged to be able to take part in an event such as The London Marathon and really want to put everything into making my place in the race a massive success!
The fundraising target I have been set is £1500 which I expect will be some feat to reach in the current financial climate but in situations like this, every little really does help!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

I'll keep this page updated as I continue my training for the event and will no doubt have plenty of photos from the race itself to share with people once I'm done!

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
