Story

Officers and PCSO's from the the Rugby Safer Neighbourhood Teams will be embarking on a three peaks challenge to climb the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales - Scarfell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon respectively - in 24 hours.

This ambitious task is set to take place on the 28th and 29th June 2010.

Lee Maughan, organiser and also taking part in this challenge explains further, " We are apprehensive but excited to be taking part in this daring adventure for such a good cause and hope to reach our sponsorship target of £5000.  Support from anyone wishing to sponsor us, be that individuals, organisations or companies would be greatly appreciated.  The air ambulance is also helping us to secure sponsorship. We are participating in this as a group of private individuals who are also members of Warwickshire Police.  This has been independantly organised by me and does not form part of any wider challenge."

Updates !!

The team have all been working hard to ensure success, both by training individually, and as a team.

On the 15th of March 2010 the team climbed Snowdon in treatcharous conditions.  The weather was cold and the towards the summit the snow was deep and there was minimal visibility.    Never the less the team all made it down in one peice, keenly planning their next training day.

On 22nd April the the team visited Edale in the Peak District.  The weather this time was far kinder. The climb took the team up Grindsbrook Clough, along the ridge, and then up Mam Tor before our decent. The Just Giving web site page shows the team at the top on this walk.

On 24th May 2010 the team tackled Scarfell Pike in the Lake District.  They reached the summit in 1 hour and 45 minutes which is an excellent time, and finished the complete acent and decent in 3 hours and 15 minutes.

Hopefully all of this hard work will stand the team in good stead.

Please keep your donations coming and a big thank you to all of you who have donated or plan to do so in the near future !
