Story
I watched the start fo the first London Marathon back in 1981 as I was living in London at that time. I said to myself "someday I want to do that"
Time passed as time does ( in fact, what else does it ever do ?) . I ran a 10k in 1991, the Great North run in 1992, another 10k in 1993. Then nothing.
Fast forward to 16th August 2009. Shocking news that my sister had died. Apart from her disability, I had not even known she was ill. Things we had planned to do together, like go to Greece, Womad were no longer possible, If only I had not kept putting them off...
What else was I putting off? My marathon. So I signed up and got a place on 18th August 2009.
I had managed from starting in September to be able to jog for 10 minutes, to do 90 minutes bu the end of November and did one 5k in the Middlesbrough Park Run before the snows threw the training out of kilter. Not to mention Christmas. But I remain determined to do this. February saw me come last in the Sleaford Half marathon, which won me a bottle of wine. I just managed to stay aehad of the sweep up vehicle in teh world's first Kilomathon in March.
Training has slipped since March with my asthma trying to outdo me, but I am determined that one way or another I will get round the course
