The coronavirus crisis is such a difficult and unprecedented time for our whole global family, but we are determined to ensure no one is beyond the reach of the support they need to survive and thrive.

Story

It's easy to feel helpless during this coronavirus crisis, but we are determined to ensure no one is beyond the reach of the support they need to survive and thrive.  We can build on the knowledge and experience gained from our work fighting Ebola to ensure our local experts are as ready for the coronavirus as they can be.  Our ongoing work to provide clean water, hand washing facilities and training to communities in need will be critical.  Whatever you can afford to donate, your gift will make a significant difference to our crisis response as we stand alongside our brothers and sisters.

Coronavirus is a major problem throughout the World including here in the UK.  News reports let us know it affects the most vulnerable in our society the most – but we are lucky that we have a system in place to support us in the UK.  Around the World the most vulnerable are suffering.  BBC News talks of the plights of migrant workers in India desperately trying to get home: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-asia-india-52684569/india-migrants-we-will-die-we-are-poor-people. The plight of refugees in places like Syria and the Rohingya people in Bangladesh is made all the worse: https://cafod.org.uk/News/Emergencies-news/Refugees-in-Bangladesh.

CAFOD supports those who need help the most through their works in countries across the World.

As a Christian community, we at St Columba’s believe we see the face of Christ in everyone regardless of race, religion or creed.  We have challenged all connected with the St Columba’s community to do at least 111 reps every day (the repetition of any exercise), over the half term holiday period, in an attempt to get to the target of 1,000,000 reps collectively.

Our counter is on the school website: www.st-columbas.bexley.sch.uk - OR - Please copy and paste the following link into your web browser to join in the challenge and add the number of reps you have completed.  Anyone can join in!

Please sponsor our community in our efforts – CAFOD is one of a number of charities supporting the most vulnerable in the World.  Your donation will have a real impact.

What your donations could buy:

  • £6 could buy a hygiene pack for a family.
  • £33 can give a religious leader information about coronavirus, which they can share with their community.
  • £260 can write, edit and broadcast a 30-second radio advert sharing news about coronavirus with isolated communities.

Please consider adding Gift Aid to your donation and pass this fundraising event on to your friends and family.  Thank you.
