Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page for the Slimming World London Marathon Team 2015.

Every single runner is so committed, dedicated and fully deserving of a place on this team. Each person has been on an amazing weight loss journey and worked incredibly hard to get to where they are today. Many of the team have sadly been touched by cancer in some way so raising money for such worthwhile causes will without doubt help spur the team on to train harder and cross the finish line even faster.

Meet the team
Target members Graeme & Lisa Wharton, both 42, are our 2014 Couple of the Year Title Winners from Sunderland and have lost an incredible 12 stones between them. Both were very inactive before they joined Slimming World however as they lost weight they discovered a love of running and have since competed in numerous 10k's and half marathons together. London however, will be their first marathon.

Consultant Dawn Jones, 39, from Helston, Cornwall has so far lost a super 1st 8.5lbs. Before Slimming World the only exercise she did was looking after her 2 children. After losing a stone she bought a running machine and spent 6 months running in her shed before feeling confident enough to head outside. Since then she's tackled 5 half marathons but London will be her first full marathon.

Member Estelle Wiltshire, 40, from Kent has so far lost a wonderful 4st 8lbs. She wasn't at all active before joining Slimming World but started the Couch to 5km in January 2014 and hasn't looked back. She's completed various 5k and 10k races as well as a triathlon and runs a couple of times a week with a club. This will be her first marathon.

Target member & Man of the Year 2014 semi-finalist David Patrick, 24, from Weymouth has lost a fantastic 7st 10.5lbs. He rarely exercised before joining Slimming World but has since completed a couple of half marathons. He plays volleyball, attends the gym and loves Spinning. London will be his first marathon.

Consultant and Diamond Target member Emma Scarborough, 36, from Lincolnshire has lost a fabulous 3st 9lbs. She started walking when she joined group and found it boosted her weight loss. She took on the Couch to 5km challenge and enjoyed it so much she finished it in 4 weeks. She has 5 children and uses running as an escape from a chaotic household. She ran her first half marathon in September but London is her first marathon.

Member and Man of the Year 2014 finalist Ritchie Parrott, 45, from Essex has so far lost a staggering 11st 7.5lbs. He struggled even tying he shoe laces before he joined group. However, after starting with gentle walking and the Couch to 5km, he's completed a couple of 10k's, a 26-mile trek and has his first half marathon coming up. London will be a fabulous challenge and his first marathon.

Member Kerri Thrower, 37, from Antrim, Northern Ireland has so far lost a brilliant 4st 1lb. She's been running for 18 months, has completed a couple of half marathons and currently runs around 20 miles a week. Running is pure 'me time' for Kerri and she can't wait to complete her first marathon.

Target member Leighton Stead from Huddersfield has lost a fabulous 6½ stone. Once he started to lose weight he started running at his local Park Run and then progressed onto 10k’s and then the Great North Run half marathon. This will be Leighton’s first full marathon and the next goal on his challenge list.

Member Claire Reynolds, 39, from Dublin has lost a superb 5st. She was inactive before joining Slimming World but started introducing exercise slowly and was inspired to run by our Greatest Loser 2012, and past Marathon team member, Matt Briggs when he visited her group. She's completed a half marathon and also Tough Mudder which is not for the faint hearted! This will be Claire's first marathon and she will be raising money for the Marie Keating Foundation.

Kathryn Briggs is a Senior Designer and has worked at Slimming World’s Head Office for 15 years. Kathryn has lost 6st 7lbs and has been at target for 18 years. Kathryn has run 18 marathons (the London Marathon 15 times!) so is somewhat of an expert.

Consultant Hazel Eastman from Basingstoke has lost a wonderful 3st and runs 2 groups in Popley, Hampshire. Hazel was lucky enough to receive a ballot entry into the marathon for 2015 and would love to raise money for SMILES.

Member Tony Egan from Hampshire has lost an impressive 9st 2lbs at Rachel House's group in Aldershot. Tony won his place in this year's marathon through a Facebook competition and has decided to raise money for SMILES. Tony was part of the official Slimming World team in 2014 so this is his second London marathon.

Consultant Lynsey Hall runs 2 groups in Buckinghamshire and also has a ballot entry for 2015. Cancer Research UK is a charity close to Lynsey's heart so she'll also be joining the team to raise funds through SMILES.
