Story

On Sunday 21st of April 2024 we are both running the London Marathon for the Kent Association for the Blind (KAB). We hope you will consider sponsoring us, in taking on 42.2 km (26.1 miles) for this worthy cause!

As some of you may or may not know, our beautiful boy, Lennon, is registered Blind. He was born with a condition called Septo Optic Dysplasia which affects his optic nerves, along with other parts of his brain. In his case, he has no vision at all, and this is most likely going to be the case, for his entire life.

Despite his struggles and everything he has had to face so far, he’s a very happy, loving little boy and nothing phases him. His strength and determination has just amazed us all, he’s the most incredible little boy, and he brings such joy to everyone who meets him.

The KAB is an amazing charity who works closely with Lennon. They have provided him with his cane, and continue to deliver his cane training. We have a lovely lady called Jen, who visits our home every so often.  This charity also supports us as a family, we are able to meet other parents who face the same struggles, and it’s a real comfort knowing we are not alone. They do so much as a charity and we are hoping to give a little bit back.

We are taking on this challenge in the hope to raise as much as we can for this amazing charity, who support Lennon and other visually impaired people to live a normal life with minimal restrictions as possible. It’ll be a challenge but it’s nothing compared to what Lennon has been through.

If you can spare a penny or two, we would be so grateful! And I hope you’ll be cheering us on!

Imagine a world with limited vision. Being unable to walk to the shops unaided or relying on someone else to check your online banking. Kent Association for the Blind (KAB) gives people the confidence to continue living their lives as independently as they can. Sight loss doesn't mean that someone is completely blind. There are many different eye conditions and varying degrees of what someone can see. That's why the support KAB provides is tailored to the needs of each person. Some people need help with long cane training, so that they can navigate their local community on their own. Some people want to stay connected to the world by learning new technologies that can magnify or read out text. And some people need to feel less lonely, which is why KAB's volunteer befrienders and social groups are so popular.Your donation will have a BIG difference on the lives of the visually impaired. Thank you.
