A final update to say thank you sooooooo much to everyone for all your support. Without it I couldn't have got to where I am, and so I am hugely grateful from both a personal level, as well as passing on the thanks of Raleigh International to all of you for your generosity.
6 days to go before I fly, and I am very excited. Soon to find out what I will be doing out there, and get stuck in.

Hi to everyone, a quick update to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who has sponsored me already!!! I'm overwhelmed by the response and many of the kind wishes I have received from you all.
I am almost up to my fundraising target now, and further money has been raised off-line with donations from my Grandfather and the Beaney's - so many thanks to them for these too.
I am very excited about the expedition still, and have now met most of the staff team who I will be working with - they're a fantastic bunch and we're all really looking forward to working with the participants. I met a large number of the participants at a challenge workshop last week, and they too are a good bunch - so I think they're gonna have a blast + get a lot out of the expedition!

I will be taking part in an expedition to Malaysia in February - May 2007. Raleigh operates in the Sabah and Sarawak regions of Malaysia on the island of Borneo. I have been accepted as a Project Manager;
The position of Project Manager (PM) is one of considerable independence and
autonomy, which entails taking responsibility for the success of an allocated project. The objective is to organise and run a project site in a remote area with little external support, managing a group of around 12 international young people per phase, in a cross cultural environment, often isolated from the rest of the programme team.
Whilst I will not be told which site I will be managing until I'm in-country, Raleigh operates phases in conservation, sanitation, education, construction, as well as the 'adventure' projects which often include environmental elements to them.
My expedition starts on 15 February 2007.
Raleigh International is a charity committed to the personal growth and development of young people from all nationalities and backgrounds, including disadvantaged and "at risk". Founded in 1984 our overseas and UK programmes are designed to help young people develop skills and self-confidence in a fun and challenging environment beyond the classroom and workplace. Whilst Raleigh focuses on the Youth Development aspect, the work that they have done around the world has provided a backbone to many societies in under-developed areas around the world, providing sanitation, education, medical, tourism and sport facilities enabling the communities to help themselves, and be a part of improving their standard of living.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Raleigh International will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
