On May the 15th
at precisely 7.30am I will be taking on one of the biggest endeavours
of my life to date. Having flown up to Beijing from Shanghai where I am
currently living and spending the night in a hostel next to the Great Wall I
will embark upon the Great Wall Marathon. Having run a Half Marathon in London
last year I thought it was time to raise my game and take on something a little
more..... adventurous. I didn't quite realise what I was getting myself in
for.
The Great Wall Marathon takes place on a
section of the wall in the Tianjin Province which is close to Beijing. The run
promises to be spectacular however negoiating the 5,164 steps along the way
will be a serious challenge.
The training routine has been extremely
intense to date and I am trying many different tactics in order to enable me to
get round the course.
The Anna Trust
The Anna Trust was set up in 1993 to
raise money for cystic fibrosis (CF), the most common inherited condition in
Britain affecting approximately 7,000 children and young adults. It is life
threatening and currently there is no cure. The genetic abnormality manifests
itself in unusually thick sticky mucus which clogs the lungs and digestive
systems making it difficult to breathe and absorb food properly.
Please give anything that you can towards
this great charity, it will spurn me on during my run on the 15th of May and
will be going to a great cause.
