Thank you for taking the time to visit our fundraising page.
I hope you like the photo which is of my brother and I 11 years ago when we did the Virgin London Marathon for Marie Curie in memory of our dear Mum - updated photo to follow when Ralph and I can get together in our running vests - we were certainly a lot fitter then!
I know that I said that I would be hanging up my running shoes after the Marathon Des Sables feat I managed to get around in 2016, but after the year we have all had, I wanted to raise awareness and funds towards the excellent work that Marie Curie do - enabling dignified end of life care for people in their own homes. Marie Curie, like a lot of charities, has been hugely affected by the pandemic, so events like the London Marathon are a vital source of income for them.
I, therefore, approached Marie Curie back in February, as it is a charity close to my heart and I ran for them back in 2010 in memory of our fabulous Mum, who we sadly lost in 2009 to cancer. Marie Curie were absolutely amazing and Ralph ran the Llanelli Marathon in West Wales the very same year. Mum was great right up to the end, laughing and enjoying the company of her family and that of the Marie Curie nurses who helped us enormously through what was a very difficult time.
So it is with great pride that Ralph and I will be running through the streets of London once again for our Mum to support this most excellent of charities. Unlike a lot of charities, with high administrative costs, around 75 - 80% of what you give goes straight to Marie Curie. For more information on the work they do visit:
We cannot praise them highly enough and will do all we can to promote this charity - enabling people to be at home rather than in a hospital.
love and with the fondest memories of our wonderful Mother
