This year about 30 or so intrepid Santas will hit the streets of Mortimer, Theale, Burghfield Common and Burghfield Village on Saturday16th December 2017.
As is only appropriate, the Santas will be riding reindeer (appropriately dressed bicycles) for the majority of the route, switching to alternative means of transport in the evening.
For more details, pictures and videos of previous cruises please take a look at our website http://www.santacruise.org.uk/ Or check out the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BurghfieldSantaCruise
The Thames Valley Air Ambulance is a charity which receives no funding from the NHS or from the National Lottery, but relies entirely on Sponsorship, donations and fundraising activities such as this.
Over 10 years of Santa activities including Santa Cruises, Box-cart bash, beer festivals and bunny hops, the group has raised over £150,000 for Thames Valley Air Ambulance which has helped among other things to mean:
They now carry blood and plasma (the first Air Ambulance to do so) and have increased the survival rate of their patients by 25%.
They now fly at night, and carry all sorts of tech so they can land safely in unknown places in the dark.
They have the highest trained critical care responders in the UK and fly specialist trauma care doctors on board - They can even put people into a medical coma before transport. They have full body cams so the staff at the destination hospital can see the injuries and assess in real time - so patients can go straight to theatre upon arrival
All costs of participation in this event are met by the ‘Santas’ so they pay for drink, decorations, reindeer food and the Santa outfits. This means all the proceeds from donations and on the day collections go to Thames Valley Air Ambulance!!!
