Story
Thanks for taking the time to support my wobbly legs in the women's 10K run!
I decided to run for the charity Positive Action in Housing in Glasgow because of the work they do to support refugees and migrants who face homelessness, poverty and racial harassment. Despite the media myths, the UK only actually hosts 2% of the world’s 10 million refugees and underneath the label of 'refugee' or 'ethnic minority' are the real stories of families, pregnant women, old people and children who face homelessness because they aren't allowed to access homeless hostels. Positive Action in Housing has a Destitution Hardship Fund that your donation will contribute to and even a few pounds can go a long way when you have nothing. Other stories of people they help can be found on http://www.paih.org/Support/
When I've been in other countries I've always encountered overwhelming hospitality from families who don't have that much to give in the first place- whether it was a bed for the night, hot food or just a cup of tea and a friendly smile. Supporting charities like Positive Action in Housing is a way of returning this hospitality.
So thanks again for taking the time to support-it will be motivation for my wobbly legs on Sunday May 9th!
