Story

Hello everyone - for those of you who don't know, I'm running the Great North Run (13 long hard miles!) in Newcastle on the 18th September 2010 for charity and would be most grateful for your support.

I am raising money for Max Appeal again – a charity ran by parents for families affected by Di George syndrome (22q.11 deletion).

As you may or may not know, my nephew Jude was diagnosed with the syndrome aged 1. Di George affects his heart, his immunity and his learning & development. He is looked after by 3 hospitals and host of health care professionals. Despite all his set backs Jude is a happy and relatively healthy little boy.

saddly other children with Di George syndrome are not as fortunate as Jude - some don’t make it out of neo-natal units. Others are born with acute immunity issues, severe heart problems (it is the 2nd most common course of congenital heart defects in children), palate deformities including cleft palate, low calcium levels leading to seizures, kidney problems, neurological problems, poor muscle tone, mild to moderate learning & behavioural difficulties, the list goes on and on......................

Max Appeal’s aim is to improve the quality of life of all those affected by the syndrome, to raise awareness of the condition and bring about permanent improvements in the social and medical care of those affected

Max Appeal is a very small charity – one where every penny donated will make a real difference. I would be extremely grateful if you would sponsor me and help this fantastic charity.

Love Sarah Whyte.
