Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So what's it all about then?
Well, everyone needs a challenge in life. Some will scale the highest mountain, others will kayak across an ocean. Well camping is my challenge. I mean, look at my hair. Does that look like tent hair to you? Is that the kind of hair that deals with communal washing facilities and a distinct lack of vanity mirror and electrical sockets for a hairdryer and straightening tongs? No, because its 5 star, ensuite bathroom and a minibar kind of hair. Apparently there will also be some 27 miles of trekking along Hadrian's Wall to boot. Frankly its not gale force wind in a cagoule kind of hair either, but we're already well beyond my comfort zone, so in for a penny in for a pound.
Here's the deal, I suffer the indignity of the camping, the trekking and the resulting barnet and you throw wads of cash at the charity I'm supporting, which builds homes from home to house families nearby to hospitals where their loved ones are undergoing treatment for leukaemia.
Here is some more blurb if you're interested:
I am taking part in a 2 day trek along Hadrian's Wall in August in aid of The Karen Morris Memorial Trust. Discover Adventure the organisers grade the trek as ‘tough’ and say "It will require good fitness and feature some demanding climbs and terrain. In general, the days will be around six/seven hours of walking with potentially challenging weather conditions”
The KMMT was set up over 10 years ago in the memory of Karen Morris, a beautiful friend, sister and daughter who sadly lost her life to leukemia in 1998. The KMMT's main focus is to build home from homes for leukaemia patients and their families. They currently have homes in Hammersmith and Oxford and in discussions with Birmingham and Cambridge to develop there. They also provide complimentary therapists for Haematology patients which in this climate is a well received luxury. The KMMT ensures that as much as possible every single penny that is donated goes directly to the cause and that administration costs are kept to an absolute minimum. This means that anything you do donate makes a positive contribution to changing the lives of people who are facing one of the toughest challenges of their lives.
