Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. I'm off to Kathmandu at the end of Feb’ 2011 to help an orphanage, aptly named Hope Centre, that supports disabled hill-children who are particularly vulnerable and would struggle for a present, let alone a future, without such places. The centre is run by a local team and has been set up by a charity called New Futures Nepal – they have a website linked to this page with their history and mission.
I am personally looking to get involved with the upkeep of the orphanage building as well as investigating and implementing any potential improvements that the team there has identified (and potentially many more that are yet to be identified!).
One such project is the repair and/or redesign of a wheelchair ramp and access path. Currently it looks like it would have a better place in a theme-park yet has no safety rail! Estimated costs are around £150 to re-surface the ramps and path and to install some railing.
Your donations on this site (or to me personally) are going to be used to fund such projects through supplying materials and/or labour. They will not be used to support me in any way – unless I need local help or perhaps even sourcing machinery.
A little goes a long way out there, so even a small donation would be warmly welcomed and much appreciated, so please support!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
