I'm nearly ready to take up the challenge of an ironman distance triathlon - 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle and then a full marathon (26.2 miles)! I've been training hard for this and am (nearly) looking forward to it. The event I am participating in is Challenge Roth http://www.challenge-roth.com/en/index.html on 18th July 2010, in Roth, Germany.

This is the first event of this scale I have attempted and think it only fitting that I try and raise money for a worthwhile cause - The Childrens Heart Unit Fund at Freeman Hospital is a fantastic charity that raises money to support the Children's Heart unit and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle www.chuf.org.uk .
