Story

Hey guys, we wondered if you could help?

For those of you who don't know, one of our lush founders, Hell de Jour, works in a nursery for children with autism. One of her previous pupils, Mitchell Huth, is now very ill; he has neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer. When he was first diagnosed he had cancer cells in his liver, kidney, brain, blood and bones, but he has had fantastic, revolutionary treatment at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). He has fought nearly all of the cancer, with just the tumour left in his brain which he is currently being treated for. The doctors have been amazing, he could not ask for better treatment.

Hell de Jour went to visit Mitchell while he was at GOSH and was really surprised at the lack of suitable toys for him. There are play leaders, but they don't work weekends (tell that to a sick autistic 5 year old), a multisensory room situated on another floor which he couldn't visit, and a play room but the toys were a bit pants. Obviously this little boy is very close to our roller-warrior's heart, so SSRG have come up with a plan!

We'd like raise money for GOSH by skating in Goodwood Roller Marathon! Goodwood Roller Marathon is a charity race around the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit. Skaters of all abilities and styles will participate in one of four races of 5, 12, 26 or 53 miles. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Cash donations will be used to buy toys for the wards at GOSH like the Vetec toys, Nintendo DS’s, etc, that the children can play in bed. We'd also like to buy a range of toys to refresh their tired toy room, and add some toys that have already been donated through the nursery she works at.

We know people all have their own stories and personal causes they want to support, but we know a little boy who would be very thankful (and a big roller girl who will love you muchly)!

Please give what you can - no amount is too small.

Hugs and Shoves,

Hell de Jour and the Seaside Siren Roller Girls xxxx
