Story

As you all know, Darren has terminal bowel cancer.  In March 09 he was discharged by the Royal Marsden as there was nothing more they could do.  They hoped he would live for months rather than weeks. This news was just before our wedding and devasted us both and our three fantastic children aged 14, 12 and 8!.

In October 09 Darren was transferred from a 6 week stay in hospital to St Lukes Hospice for a proposed 7-10 day stay.  3 months later he was the longest person ever to live at the hospice since its opening in 1990. From being totally bed nursed, he has taught himself to walk again and is fighting all the way! We spent Christmas at home as a family and Darren has now been discharged until such time he needs to return again.  This miracle was encouraged by the fantasic care given by all the staff at St. Lukes.

I want to help this hospice who are run by charitible donations. Anyone who knows me, knows I am not one for running so when this event to raise money by walking through Lakeside shopping centre in Essex in stilletos came along it was much more my cup of tea.  The fact that it takes place over the eve of Darrens 47th Birthday made it a event that was meant to be. Spook!!

I thought when I signed for this I would be a widow, walking in memory of the man who I have been with for 27 years; but I am not and the fight goes on for this amazing man whom I love.

Everyone always seems to be asking for money for a good cause, but this good cause affects me and my family directly and we have personally benefited and continue to to so until the time Darren needs his bed back again and then finally gives it up.  If you could even donate the price of a drink down the pub it would help so so much.

You can donate on line through this site or even join me on the walk and raise your own sponsorship money.

Do it for Darren xx xx xx
