Story
So in a moment of absolute madness and just after a visit to the Evelina Children's Hospital dialysis ward Ali and I signed up to abseil down Guy's tower - yes all 469 feet of it! - to raise money for the hospital.
We've set our target at £2000 which is perhaps a little high and so in order to incentivise those of you for whom 'doing it for the children' might not be quite enough, we have decided that if we hit our target we will abseil down dressed in whatever the highest donor chooses for us to wear! (Obviously within the remit of the UK's decency laws!).
We have faith in your generosity but mainly in your desire to make us do something terrifying and humiliating at the same time.
The Evelina Children's Hospital, part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, provides everything from routine care and minor surgery to life saving treatment for over 100,000 children every year.
Hospitals are often dark, forbidding places which serve to make already anxious patients even more so, especially children. Not so at the Evelina, where children were consulted on what they most wanted to see in the new scheme. Their answer was 'no long scary corridors', but the team went far further in designing features to make them feel better, quicker. The result is a truly special building. Floors are distinguished by a different realm of the natural world, while the conservatory floor - dubbed The Beach - has a play area, a restaurant and a school for longer term patients. The hospital even has its own radio station! We've attached some photos so you can see for yourselves.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
It really is a good cause so please dig deep and donate now.
Thank you
