Since the formation of The Rifles in February 2007, The Rifles have suffered more casualties than any other regiment. There have been 54 Riflemen Killed in Action with a further 290 seriously injured. Of these, in excess of 40 have sustained life changing physical injuries which will require long term assistance (23 are amputees, and 3 of these have lost three of their limbs). For each casualty the Regiment sustains, a family's life is changed forever.
The 2010 Appeal
The Rifles Charities have launched an appeal, Care For Casualties, which aims to raise £1million during 2010. It is run by a great friend, who works full time and voluntarily for this vital cause.
What kind of help do we provide?
Care for Casualties is an appeal that gives the severely wounded and their families the support, the inspiration and the means to rebuild their lives and make the best of their futures. An example might be funding driving lessons or a stairlift for an amputee.
The list is endless; last year, there were 691 individual cases funded by the Regiment.
I have been fortunate enough to have spent an incredibly fulfilling and happy 17 years as a Rifleman and as I leave the Army, I would really like to give something back to all those who have suffered.

Please give generously. Thank you.
