I am very proud to be a trustee of an amazing charity called SpecialEffect and on the 9th of December 2012 I will be running from Marathon to the Acropolis in Athens, a distance of about 40km. I will be following the route that legend has it was run by Pheidippides, the Greek messenger who in 490BC was sent from the battlefield of Marathon to Athens to announce that the Persians had been defeated. (I don't think the Athens traffic was as bad when he did it...) There are 5 of us running, and we will be assisted by a friend who lives in Greece who will provide a support vehicle for drinks etc.

Each runner has personally covered all of the costs of the trip, so the full amount of all donations will go straight to the cause.
